I'm a big believer in adult education, but you already knew that. I love to teach adult classes and some of the favorite times of the week is when I get to teach the Pastor's Class- but you probably already knew that, too.
What you may not know is that the new Pastor's Class is about to begin!
Once again the class will be held at two times each week in order to accommodate as many schedules as possible:
- Wednesday evenings- 6:45-8:00
- Thursday mornings- 10:15-11:30
This year the topic is the Book of Acts and we are going to tackle it in two parts.
The first part will cover the early chapters of Acts and the class will last 8 weeks.
The second part will be longer. It will start after the new year and it will cover the rest of the book (starting with Paul) and will include a companion book. More about that later.
Part 1 begins on Wednesday/Thursday, September 8th/9th and all are invited. There is no cost and you are encouraged to bring your own Bible (though we will have Bibles available in the class). No prior experience in Bible Study is necessary and in fact, the first class will be an introduction to the Bible, how we got it and how to study it.
The Book of Acts is an amazing (and often underrated) book. The title suggests it is about the 'acts' of the early apostles. In fact, the subject has to do with the 'acts' of the Holy Spirit - who just won't behave the way people expect Much of the time, the disciple have to work hard just to keep up with God. It seems to me that the 21st century is a lot like the 1st century in that regard, which makes the study of Acts even more important.
There is no registration, though I would like to know if you're planning to come (we can make sure we have enough materials, chairs, etc.). If you think you can attend, would you let me know? You can contact me by email by clicking in the upper right-hand column. If you have questions or comments, you can connect with me there, too.
One question that always comes up: If I can't attend every class, can I still attend? The answer: Yes.
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year and the Pastor's Class is one of my favorite times of the week. In case you can't tell- I'm looking forward to next week!
