"My name is Temple Grandin.
I'm not like other people!"
Every summer, we reserve a few weeks for a series we call, "Moving Pictures". It uses movies, and the stories they tell, to raise questions that we address in worship. This year, the theme is "Reel People: True Stories" Each movie we'll use tells the story of a real person and the the challenges they faced.
This Sunday, we look at the movie, "Temple Grandin." It never made it to the 'big screen' (aka, 'a theater near you'), but it was one of the best movies I've seen in the last year (it was presented on HBO and won seven Emmy awards).
Temple has autism and spent her whole life trying to get people to see she is, "different, but not less." It wasn't easy, and it took great courage from her, her mother, her teachers and many more." Today, she is Dr. Temple Grandin and is professor at Colorado State University. She was recently named by TIME magazine as one of the "100 Most Influential People In the World".
